Ditch Days

We have ten children. I know that seems like a lot, and it is. It’s a lot of mouths to feed. A lot of clothes to wash. A lot of homework every weekday. A lot of needs to fill.

But.

It’s a lot of hugs. It’s a lot of personality. It’s a lot (like, a LOT a lot) of love. It’s a lot of hard work, too.

So sometimes, when some of the children go with their other parent and some choose to stay home, we have a ditch day up in the mountains to reconnect with ourselves and enjoy this world we have been given.

The water was cold, the breeze was cool, and it was sooooo good for my soul.

Mundane Life Stuff That Is Hilarious

I don’t know WHY I was so completely entertained by this ortho appointment; maybe because I LOVE embarrassing my teenager as payback for him announcing my bathroom habits in public when he was 3, maybe it’s because he thinks he is the smart-aleky-ist kid on the planet.

I dunno.

I just had to share that I enjoyed this visit more than I probably should have.

Some Big News (because it’s go big or go home around here!)

You *might* want to turn the sound down….there is a lot of screaming in this video. 🀣

Spoiler Alert!

We are expecting a baby in March.

It is a girl.

Everyone but Haley is shocked, and every single human is super duper excited!

I have been puking my guts up with this baby, so I should have known someone different was growing in my belly, but it seems as though the sickness is mellowing out a bit (I had two days in a row that I didn’t throw up this week), and potatoes, hash browns, French fries, and sonic tater-tots seem to stay down juuuuuust fine. Also, I’ve been eating carrots. (I haaaaaaate carrots!!)

Wow, the things we mommas do for our babies. πŸ˜‰

Eye Balls

Sometimes, we have acute allergic reactions to bugs that fly in our eyes on the way home from school and can’t see anything.

Luckily, Everlee already had an appointment scheduled for that morning with Elite Eye Care here and they let me bring Sterling in right away to get this mess all healed up. He was a trooper and got two suckers, sooooo…the eye doc is on his list of favorite people right now!

This is AFTER I put a cold compress on it; the soft, white part of his lower lid was oozing out when I first saw it. I’m not a mom that freaks out over stuff, but MAN!! It was tough to see. Luckily, I have a great poker face when it comes to “owies”. Nate, on the other hand….not so much. We really need to work on his bedside manner before the next kid goes down!

Remember That Time?

Remember that time I used to blog and share tidbits of life and feelings on things and just…share?

Well, I really missed that. Now I know that I can just type away on my computer and add photos to it and print it out for my kiddos. But part of this journey of life that I’m on is sharing it with others. Because time and time again, I have been contacted by friends and strangers letting me know that they, too, are struggling. Or that they did struggle and they are now on the other side and they are ok.

In this new chapter of my life, I am a mom, a step-mom, a wife, and much much more! Together, my husband and I have 10 children, 8 boys and 2 girls, and let me tell you, some days it’s great, some days it’s downright HARD, but it’s always “right” at the end of the day with all those heads tucked into beds under our roof.

We get a LOT of questions about what we do, how we live, and what we eat as a family of 12 (!), so as I document it for me, I can also share with curious family and friends as we travel along this LIFE.Β Wedding
